Ask yourself something: What’s the disease you fear most for your child? Without going on the internet and doing a search, what springs to mind? Think of the one disease you dread your child getting. Most people will say polio. Others may say whooping cough.

Think about this for a second—can you name a disease you are afraid of that doesn’t have a vaccine? It’s difficult for most. You may say Ebola or Zika, but most people can’t name a disease they’re afraid of that doesn’t sit on the vaccine schedule. Why is this?
