Medical professionals often show a distinct lack of humility. Is this really a bad thing?

I want to talk quickly today about humility, and more specifically- medical humility. Many of you know that I love reading history books, because they can give you a really good idea about the future. You have to read a lot, though, because history, just like science, is told with an inherent bias, and it takes a lot of sleuthing to get to the point where you can see through all the rose-tinted glasses and develop your OWN, correct bias.
