Jenner, the small pox vaccine inventor, had finally gotten a paper published, but had added a new element to his theory- cow pox doesn't actually prevent small pox, but a horse disease called the grease. The Royal Society knew the public wasn't going to accept the horse grease theory and asked him to remove all references to it.
